Artist’s Biography/Statement
I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario and attended university there. After graduating in 1977 with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Education I moved to London, Ontario. I later attended the University of Western Ontario and earned a Diploma in Art Therapy.
I currently divide my time amongst art making, teaching (with the Thames Valley District School Board), and writing on visual art. I am a regular contributor to The Beat and Lifestyle magazines.
As an artist, I work mainly in dry media – especially in coloured pencil and graphite. My favourite subjects include objects that I collect as well as things that I admire, ranging from small toys and figurines, to local wildlife. Over the past couple of years I have focused on rendering wild and domestic birds.
I use Prismacolor coloured pencils and often work on coloured museum board. I enjoy using coloured pencil because it is portable and immediate and requires very little clean-up.
