Artist’s Biography/Statement
My history is a long story, which I am attempting to explain briefly and very short. Ever since I can remember, from my early age, I used coloured pencils. And the main reason for this is because this is all I had when growing up. Later I attended art school in Budapest, and because of financial difficulties in the family I had to stop.
When I was 18 years old I immigrated to Canada. And whie still young I took a commercial art course in the province of Quebec. And later when I could afford art supplies, I began to do do oil painting, something I also wanted to be able to do. But I never ever neglected to use my coloured pencils, that I was so familiar with.
As the years went on I started to get even more involved with art. I have joined various art clubs and attend as many workshops as possible. Example is in Trail, BC. I belong to the Thursday Morning Painters. Also I belong to the Creston Art Club. I used to belong to the Canadian Federation of Artist. I am presently mentoring coloured pencil workshops in Trail, and often in Creston. BC.
I try to enter as many Art Shows as I can in my area. It might interest you that I have Joes Art Gallery in Salmo, BC. It is open year round. I hope this little resume will help you to get to know me better. Please enjoy the pictures I have also posted on facebook (artist joehorvath).
