Artist’s Biography/Statement

Gatineau

I was born in 1961 in Peterborough, Ontario and grew up in London Ontario. I graduated from BealArt in 1979 and spent a decade working in the Graphics/Printing trades. I completed a 3-year apprenticeship in 2000 to learn ancient and modern Stained Glass skills. From my business Rose Window Stained Glass, I restore antique windows, create original commissions, and teach. I have served on the Organising Committee of the London Artists’ Studio Tour, the Centre for Creativity at King’s College, the Women’s Spirituality Circle at Brescia College, and cofounded- the new London Stained Glass Guild.

I am an Artist who works with Darkness and Light to explore duality and reconciliation. I paint Darkness onto Light in Stained Glass, and paint Light onto Darkness in my dramatic pastels/coloured pencil on black ground. Through these media I explore paradoxes of existence such as: mortality and divinity; despair and joy. I am a Quaker, a Feminist, a mother and continue my studies in Creativity through these Spiritual lenses.
