Artist’s Biography/Statement
First Born
After spending most of my adult life in several cities, last year I returned to my rural roots just outside Sackville NB, where I grew up. I have three grown children and four grandchildren.
Mainly self-taught as an artist, I’ve been drawing and painting since I was old enough to hold a pencil. My inspiration comes largely from the wonders of the natural world, and I’m especially drawn to the Tantramar Marsh which borders my hometown.
I’ve used many different mediums over the years, but since the late 1990s I’ve focused primarily on Coloured Pencil work. In addition to selling originals and doing commissioned portrait work, I also market prints and notecards based on a selection of my Marsh paintings, and I occasionally teach classes in Coloured Pencil and other related topics.
In addition to membership in the Coloured Pencil Society of Canada, I also hold membership in the Sackville Art Association, and a Life Membership in the Fredericton Society of Artists. I’m a past member of the Coloured Pencil Society of America, and Gallery Connexion in Fredericton NB.
